Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. -Proverbs 3:9-10
First Fruit Giving – Scripture teaches that all we have belongs to God, yet we have the amazing privilege to be His managers. When we contribute financially to the church, we’re simply honoring the command of scripture by returning His portion, which in turn shows our trust that He will take care of our needs.
First-fruit contributions should come right off the top of our income – before taxes, before we pay the bills, before we spend anything on ourselves.
Benefits of Online Giving
Faithfulness – The Bible indicates giving is to be a “first” and not a last or leftover matter in our lives. Proverbs 3:9-10 reminds us of God’s promises when we put God first. It is easy to let our standards and intentions be compromised by the press of expenses and billing cycles.
Convenience – Have you ever forgotten your contribution, left it at home or pledged to double it in the future? Have you fallen behind in giving because of travel and other schedule interruptions? With online giving you can make your contribution anywhere you have internet. You can also set up a “recurring” gift that will make your transactions automatic!
Expedience – Through online giving, you expedite your gift, simplify internal accounting, and strengthen our base of regular support.
A Word of Caution from First Church
The online giving system is being provided as a convenience, allowing you to contribute to the work of the church by debit or credit card. First Church strongly encourages you to make your online contribution through ACH which draws funds directly from your checking account. For those who choose to use a credit card we would ask you to please pay the balance quickly in order to avoid accumulating any debt through your contributions to First Church. In addition, the expense for First Church is much less if ACH is used instead of a debit or credit card.
First Church also offers Text Giving at 817.203.4900. For full instructions on how to give through texting, click here.
