It is a thrill for me to be at NCA and working in partnership with families to educate their children in a Christian setting. Please feel free to contact me any time you have questions regarding your child’s academic performance, journey toward college, or other issues. If I cannot help you, I will guide you toward the person that can. This year, Mrs. Leah Boice will be assisting me, NCA students, and families with additional Guidance Counseling services. Both Mrs. Boice and myself desire to support our students in further discovering who they are in Christ and provide opportunities for self-awareness, goal setting, and shared decision making. You may email me or call 817-297-7003 x113.
Why Secondary School Guidance Counseling?
Today’s young people are living in an exciting time, with an increasingly diverse and mobile society, new technologies and expanding opportunities. To help ensure they are prepared to become the next generation of parents, workers, leaders and citizens; students need support, guidance, and opportunities to define their increasing independence. Students are deciding who they are, what they do well, and what they will do when they graduate. During the adolescent years, students are evaluating their strengths, skills, and abilities. They need guidance in making concrete and compounded decisions. They must deal with academic pressures as they face high-stakes testing, the challenges of college admissions, the scholarship and financial aid application process, and entrance into a competitive job market.
Meeting the Challenge
High school Academic Advisors and Guidance Counselors do not work in isolation. We are an integral piece of the total educational process that includes strong partnerships with parents. We align and work with the school’s mission to support the academic achievement of all students as they prepare for their life journey after high school. As we pray for students and families, we will work diligently to offer support services during this exciting journey.
